I recently embarked on a project to integrate the Shelly 2PM into my smart home setup, and it’s been an enlightening experience. The goal was to control a motorized 230V projector screen with phase for up and down movements. While I’ve had success with other Shelly devices, the 2PM presented some initial hurdles that made the journey both challenging and rewarding.
Initially, I encountered issues during the setup process. The Shelly 2PM didn’t light up its red LED upon connection, which was a bit puzzling. I followed the standard procedure of using the Shelly Smart Control app to discover the device, but the third phase of the binding process consistently failed. Despite resetting the device and restarting the process multiple times, the issue persisted. However, I noticed that the Shelly 2PM was fully integrated into my network, as confirmed by my Fritz-Box. This gave me a glimmer of hope that the problem was temporary and solvable.
After several attempts and a thorough review of the logs, I realized that the issue might be related to the Bluetooth signal strength or interference. I decided to try a different approach by manually resetting the device and ensuring it was in a clear area with minimal Bluetooth interference. This time, the binding process completed successfully, and the Shelly 2PM was fully integrated into my smart home ecosystem.
The experience taught me the importance of patience and thorough troubleshooting when dealing with smart devices. It also highlighted the value of community support and resources, which I consulted extensively during the process. Now that the Shelly 2PM is up and running, it’s a reliable addition to my setup, seamlessly controlling the projector screen with precision.
This journey has reinforced my belief in the potential of smart home devices to enhance our living spaces, even when the setup process is a bit rocky. I’m excited to continue exploring the capabilities of the Shelly 2PM and integrate it further into my smart home routines.
