I recently came across the SYNC MODULE and decided to give it a try, hoping it would simplify my smart camera setup. The idea of having a central hub to manage all my cameras sounded appealing, especially since I have four Blink Mini cameras (Version 1). However, after setting it up, I noticed that the module only saves clips, which seems a bit underwhelming compared to its advertised capabilities. I was expecting more features, like the ability to customize clip retention or implement a FIFO system to keep older clips from taking up too much space.
One feature that caught my attention was the ability to make a single setting change, like adjusting Wi-Fi, which would affect all cameras connected to the hub. This seemed like a significant time-saver, but I’m still unsure if this is the intended functionality. I’ve reached out to the community to clarify if this is a bug or a feature, and I’m hopeful someone can shed some light on it.
Another issue I encountered is the limited visibility of stored clips. Currently, I can only see clips from the past two days in the app, which feels restrictive. This makes it frustrating when I need to access older clips for review, as I have to manually extract the chip from my cameras. I’m curious if there’s a way to format the chip directly through the app or if this is a known limitation of the system.
I’ve also been exploring the possibility of integrating the SYNC MODULE with other smart home devices, but it seems like there’s a lack of automation triggers for the Unifi Video platform. This is something I’d love to see improved, as it would allow for more seamless integration with my existing setup. If anyone has experience with this or knows of any workarounds, I’d be grateful for the insight!
Overall, while the SYNC MODULE shows promise, there are definitely areas where it could be enhanced to better meet the needs of users like me. I’m hopeful that with feedback from the community, we can push for improvements that make this device even more versatile and user-friendly.
