I’ve recently embarked on a fascinating journey into the realm of smart home technology, and I must say, it’s been an eye-opening experience! 
From setting up my first Wyze Video Doorbell to experimenting with Zigbee devices, every step has been a learning curve filled with excitement and occasional challenges.
One of my most rewarding experiences has been integrating various brands into a cohesive system. For instance, I replaced my old kitchen lamp with a Hue Ensis bulb, and it’s been a game-changer! The ability to control it via both S1 and S2 buttons on my Fibaro dimmer has been seamless. However, I’m curious if others have successfully used Fibaro dimmers without any load, especially for controlling multiple Hue sources. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! 
Another highlight has been exploring the Wyze ecosystem. My doorbell, while functional, recently developed a sensor issue causing a purple tint in the image. After troubleshooting with Wyze support, I’m awaiting a replacement unit. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with their replacement process—specifically, whether they provide a complete new unit or just the defective component. This would help me plan ahead without removing the mounts. 
On the software side, I’ve delved into openHAB and found it incredibly powerful, though a bit complex for newcomers. I’m curious if there’s a way to authenticate directly via LDAP without relying on a reverse proxy. Any tips or experiences would be invaluable! 
As I continue expanding my setup, I’m leaning towards adding more Zigbee and Z-Wave devices to alleviate WiFi congestion. With over 20 WiFi devices already, including smart TVs, iPads, and my Raspberry Pi for openHAB, I’m cautious about overloading my network. I’m planning to add Z-Wave door locks, Zigbee motion detectors, and more switches. If anyone has advice on balancing WiFi and mesh protocols, I’d love to hear it!
