Exploring the Wyze Cam Pro Solar Panel Setup

I recently decided to switch from SmartThings to Hubitat, and one of the devices I wanted to bring along was my Wyze Cam Pro. Setting up the solar panel for the Wyze Cam Pro was a bit challenging at first, but I managed to get it working smoothly. Here’s my experience and some tips for anyone else looking to do the same!

First, I had to unpair the camera from my old SmartThings hub and factory reset it. This process was straightforward, but I was a bit nervous about losing any settings. After resetting, I followed the Hubitat zigbee pairing guide carefully. Initially, the camera didn’t show up in the pairing list, which was a bit frustrating. However, after a few attempts and ensuring the camera was positioned correctly under sunlight, it finally paired successfully!

One thing I noticed was the lack of clear instructions from Wyze regarding the solar panel setup. I had to do some research online to find out how to enable the solar-powered mode. From what I gathered, the camera should automatically detect when it’s using solar power, but I still couldn’t find a specific toggle in the app. Despite this, I’m happy to report that the solar panel works well, and the battery level remains stable at around 85%.

I also tried adjusting the camera’s position to ensure maximum sunlight exposure. It’s important to note that the camera’s performance can vary depending on the lighting conditions, so finding the right spot is key. I recommend placing the camera in an area where it receives consistent sunlight throughout the day.

Overall, the process was a bit trial and error, but it paid off. I’m now enjoying the convenience of a solar-powered Wyze Cam Pro integrated into my Hubitat ecosystem. If you’re considering making the switch, don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any help or advice!

Happy automating! :star2:
