I’ve been using the Wyze Cam v3 outdoor camera for a while now, and I must say, it’s been a great addition to my smart home setup. The video quality is impressive, and the motion detection has been reliable, giving me peace of mind knowing my property is secure. However, there are a couple of issues I’ve encountered that I’d like to share and see if others have experienced the same.
First off, the camera’s weather resistance. While it’s advertised as IP65, I’ve noticed that after using it outdoors on a rainy day, the lens tends to get wet from the inside, causing the image to fog up. It can take days for the image to clear up, and in some cases, it never fully does. This is a bit concerning, especially since I rely on the camera for surveillance. I’m now on my third camera, and the issue persists, making me wonder if these cameras are truly meant to be used outside year-round.
Another issue I’ve faced is with the CamPlus subscription service. Despite paying for the subscription, I’m still limited to 12-second video clips for motion events. I’ve followed all the troubleshooting steps provided by Wyze support, but the issue remains unresolved. It’s frustrating because the subscription is almost a necessity for proper motion detection, yet the video length limitation feels like a significant drawback. I’m hopeful that Wyze will address this issue in future updates, as it’s been a problem for over a year now.
On a more positive note, I’ve found the Wyze app to be user-friendly and the integration with other smart home devices seamless. The ability to receive notifications on my phone and review recorded footage has been invaluable. I’m also impressed with the night vision feature, which works exceptionally well, even in complete darkness.
If anyone has experienced similar issues or has advice on how to resolve them, I’d love to hear your thoughts. It’s great to be part of a community where we can share experiences and solutions. Thanks for reading, and happy smart home exploring! ![]()
