Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with the community. One of the most fascinating aspects I’ve encountered is time-based automations. I’ve set up a few routines and lighting automations that were working perfectly until recently, when some of them stopped functioning. Interestingly, not all time-based actions are affected—some still work as expected. I’ve reached out to support, but I’m curious if others have encountered similar issues or have troubleshooting tips to share.
Another topic I’ve been exploring is vertical blind motorization. I have several of these in my home, and I’d love to integrate them with my Vera2 system. The challenge is finding an affordable and reliable addon that can attach to the cords and allow remote opening and closing. I’ve come across some solutions, but they often seem too complex or expensive. Has anyone found a straightforward way to achieve this using Z-Wave technology?
On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with grouping devices and handling rooms with the same name, especially since I’m temporarily managing two floors in the same home. It’s been a bit of a puzzle, but I’ve found the Areas and Floors features in Home Assistant to be incredibly helpful. However, voice assistant commands can still be tricky when dealing with duplicate room names. I’d love to hear how others have tackled this issue and what strategies they’ve found effective.
Lastly, I wanted to express my gratitude to the community for the wealth of knowledge and support available here. It’s inspiring to see how many creative solutions and shared experiences there are, making the journey into smart home technology both enjoyable and rewarding. If anyone has tips or tricks related to the topics I’ve mentioned, I’d be thrilled to learn more!
Looking forward to your insights and experiences!
