Exploring Travel Mode and Scheduled Recordings with Wyze Cameras

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of Wyze cameras lately and thought I’d share my experiences with their travel mode and scheduled recording features. If you’re like me, someone who’s always on the go, these features are absolute game-changers for keeping an eye on things while away from home.

So, what’s travel mode? From my understanding, it’s designed to optimize your camera’s performance while you’re traveling. I decided to test it out during a recent road trip. I set up both a time-lapse and a full-length recording to see how they’d perform. The time-lapse worked flawlessly! It captured the journey in a neat, condensed format that was easy to review later. However, when I got home and tried to play back the full-length recording, I ran into a bit of a hiccup. The app wouldn’t play the video, even though it showed as downloaded in my album. Instead, I noticed a bunch of 1-minute clips cluttering up my phone. I’m assuming the app was trying to stitch them together but failed somewhere along the way. I’m using a Google Pixel 3 with Android 10 and the beta app, so maybe that’s part of the issue?

Despite this minor setback, I’m still impressed with how Wyze has thought through the travel experience. The ability to set up scheduled recordings is particularly handy for keeping tabs on your home while you’re away. I can see this being especially useful for pet owners or those with packages arriving while they’re out. It’s all about peace of mind, right?

One thing I’d love to see in future updates is a smoother playback experience for full-length recordings. It would also be great if the app could automatically compile those 1-minute clips into a single, cohesive video. Until then, I’ll keep experimenting and hope to figure out what’s causing the playback issues.

If anyone else has had similar experiences or knows a workaround, I’d love to hear about it! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make the most out of these awesome devices. Happy travels (and spying from afar)!
