Exploring Vera Device Compatibility and Camera Reliability

Hello everyone, I’m Robin, and I’m currently exploring the compatibility of my Vera devices. I have two Vera units—one for US frequency and one for EU frequency—both purchased this summer. I’m curious to know if I have Vera 1 or Vera 2, and whether I should have received a specific version from Amazon or Zwave4u. If anyone has insights on this, I’d greatly appreciate it!

Speaking of compatibility, I’ve been experiencing some issues with my Wyze cameras. They occasionally go offline, requiring a power cycle to resume. While I understand this might be server-related, it’s quite inconvenient, especially when I’m away from home for extended periods. Additionally, the filtering function in the Wyze app has been malfunctioning for months, which is quite frustrating. I’m hoping Wyze will address these issues soon to maintain reliability.

On a more positive note, I’m excited about the potential of Hub 2.0 for local control. As an electronics hobbyist, I’m eager to bridge Zigbee and Z-Wave to Ethernet. I’m curious if there’s a local API on the hub that allows callbacks for sensor events or control of lights. Understanding the authentication and security schemes would also be valuable. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Lastly, I’m looking into retrofitting my horizontal blinds with smart controls via SmartThings. If anyone has successfully done this or has recommendations, I’d love to hear about your setups and experiences. Thanks for your help, and I look forward to your responses!
