I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey. One of the highlights has been setting up my Vera Edge system with Schlage locks, specifically the BE469NX and BE468 models. While the BE469NX paired seamlessly after a few attempts, the BE468 has been a bit of a puzzle. Despite trying various methods—whether it’s adding it as a generic device, an other Z-Wave device, or even using the specific Schlage model listed—I’ve hit a wall. I’ve scoured the debug logs, but nothing stands out as a clear error. It’s been a bit frustrating, to say the least, especially after 50+ attempts over the past week. If anyone has successfully paired a BE468 with Vera Edge, I’d love to hear your tips or tricks!
On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with creating negative numeric variables in the iOS app. It’s a small feature, but it’s something that could really enhance the functionality for users like me who rely on variables for more complex automation tasks. I noticed that while the web interface allows for negative values, the iOS app lacks a minus sign on the keyboard. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it’s something I’d love to see addressed in a future update. Also, the app currently uses a decimal comma, which gets converted to a dot after saving. A bit of inconsistency, but hopefully, it’s something that can be streamlined in the future.
Overall, my time with Vera Edge has been mostly rewarding. It’s amazing how a bit of troubleshooting and persistence can lead to such a seamless integration. I’m looking forward to continuing my exploration and discovering even more ways to enhance my smart home setup!
