Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experiences with setting up my Vera Plus unit and integrating a Foscam camera. It’s been quite a journey, but I’ve learned a lot along the way!
First, I started with the Vera Plus setup in the UK using my Virgin Router. Initially, I faced some issues with the unit conflicting with my router’s DHCP settings, causing my internet to drop. After some troubleshooting on the Vera Portal, I managed to get it working by disabling the DHCP server and firewall. However, I still struggle with finding the correct IP address after a factory reset. If anyone has tips on how to locate the Vera’s IP more efficiently, I’d greatly appreciate it!
Next, I moved on to integrating my Foscam FI9803EP camera. I’ve been using this camera for motion detection alerts, but setting it up with Vera has been a bit of a challenge. I followed several guides, but Vera still doesn’t recognize the camera. I’m wondering if there’s a specific configuration or workaround that I’m missing. For now, I’m using the camera’s native app for motion detection, but I’d love to have it fully integrated into Vera for seamless automation.
On a positive note, I’ve managed to set up some basic scenes and automation rules using Vera’s interface. It’s amazing how much you can customize the system once everything is connected. I’ve also explored some third-party integrations, which have added even more functionality to my setup.
