Hi everyone, I’m really excited to dive into the world of home automation and wanted to share some of my recent experiences and tips. First off, I’ve been keeping an eye out for the Vera Pro release, as mentioned in some of the earlier posts. It’s been a while since CES, and I’m eager to see what new features they’ll bring to the table. I’ve been using Vera Plus for a while now, and while it’s great, I’m really looking forward to the next upgrade!
Speaking of Vera, I’ve been experimenting with setting up some automations in my home. One thing that tripped me up initially was getting my garage light to turn on as soon as the door opens. I tried a few different setups in the Rule Machine, and while it worked, there was always a delay. After some tweaking, I realized that using the ‘opening’ trigger instead of ‘open’ made a world of difference. Now, the lights come on almost instantly as the door starts to move, which is exactly what I wanted!
On another note, I’ve been having some fun with Alexa. I know some folks have issues with Alexa not responding or the output not working, but I’ve found that checking the volume settings and ensuring the device is in the right mode can usually resolve it. Also, making sure all the firmware updates are applied keeps things running smoothly.
I’d love to hear about your experiences too! Whether it’s tips, tricks, or just sharing some of your favorite automations, let’s keep the conversation going. Happy automating everyone! ![]()
