Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience setting up Vera3 and some of the cool things I’ve been able to do with it. It’s been an exciting journey, and I thought I’d document some of the highlights and lessons learned along the way.
First off, I’ve been absolutely impressed with Vera3’s ability to handle scenes and automate my home. I set up a simple scene where entering my pin code on the door lock turns on the lights, and it works like a charm! The integration with my door lock and lights has made my evenings much more convenient. However, I ran into a bit of a snag when trying to add a Fortrezz Strobe/Siren SSA2. It initially showed up as a dimmable light, which was confusing. After some troubleshooting and even resetting the network, I managed to get it working properly. It was frustrating at first, but it ended up being a great learning experience.
One thing I’ve been particularly happy with is how Vera3 handles my Aeon Labs Door/Window sensors. They’ve been rock solid, and I love how they integrate with the rest of my system. I also experimented with adding a Satronic SOG960 flow meter for my oil heating system. While I’m still figuring out the best way to integrate it with my home automation setup, it’s been a fun challenge to work through.
Another highlight has been my experience with Govee’s Glide Light bulbs. I’ve had them for about six months now, and they’ve been a fantastic addition to my home. The built-in diffuser gives them a completely different vibe, and the vibrant colors are amazing for the price. I’ve even started experimenting with creating custom effects using the DIY workshop feature. It’s been so much fun to see how much I can customize them to fit my needs.
I’ve also been exploring how to optimize my system for better energy efficiency. I set up a scene where my outdoor lights turn on at sunset minus one hour if it’s sunny, and at 6 AM if it’s raining. It’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference in terms of convenience and energy savings.
Overall, my experience with Vera3 has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s a powerful tool that’s made my home smarter and more comfortable. I’m excited to continue exploring all the possibilities it offers and to share my journey with the community. If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing their Vera3 setup, I’d love to hear them!
Cheers,
