Exploring Weather Forecast Integration in Home Assistant

Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and one thing that’s been on my mind is how to get accurate and reliable weather forecasts integrated into my setup. I’ve tried a couple of different integrations, but I’m curious to hear how others are handling this.

I started with OpenWeatherMap and Weather Forecast (Met.no integration), setting them up on my dashboard. Both provide weather data, but I noticed discrepancies in their forecasts. For instance, the temperature readings from my outdoor sensor matched OpenWeatherMap, but Weather Forecast seemed off. The sunrise and sunset predictions were also inconsistent, which is a bit confusing since they’re both using the same GPS location.

I’ve been using WetterOnline on my phone for years, and it’s my go-to for accurate forecasts. However, I couldn’t find a Home Assistant integration for it. Does anyone know if such an integration exists, or am I just missing it? I’d love to have a seamless experience across all my devices.

Another thing I stumbled upon was the yellow symbols in the OpenWeatherMap integration. They looked like half-moons instead of the expected sun icons. I’m not sure what those represent, but it adds to the confusion.

I’d appreciate any tips or recommendations on how to resolve these discrepancies or find a more reliable weather integration. Have any of you faced similar issues and found a workaround? Your insights would be invaluable!

On a lighter note, it’s fascinating how much detail goes into weather forecasting. It makes me appreciate the technology behind it even more. Looking forward to hearing from you all!
