Exploring Wyze Cam V2 and V3 Integration with Other Brands

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Wyze Cam V2 and V3, as well as some tips on integrating multiple brands in a smart home setup. I’ve been using Wyze cameras for a while now, and I must say they’ve been a great addition to my home security system. The V2 models, especially the Pan v2 360-degree camera, have been reliable and work seamlessly with my Synology NAS for recording and storage.

However, I recently noticed that Wyze has introduced the V3 models, which unfortunately don’t support RTSP. I reached out to Wyze support to clarify if the V2 models still support RTSP, and they confirmed that they do. This is a relief because RTSP is essential for my setup with Synology. If anyone is considering upgrading, I’d recommend sticking with the V2 for now if RTSP is a must-have feature.

Now, moving on to integrating multiple brands. I’ve had some success mixing and matching devices from different manufacturers. For instance, I use Reolink cameras alongside Wyze, and they both work well within Home Assistant. One thing I’ve learned is the importance of ensuring all devices are on the same network and using compatible protocols like Zigbee or Z-Wave for seamless communication.

I also wanted to touch on the topic of data privacy. With more devices connected to the cloud, it’s crucial to review each device’s privacy settings. For example, I recently upgraded my thermostat to a local-only model to avoid sending data to third-party servers. This has given me peace of mind, knowing my data isn’t being shared unnecessarily.

If anyone has tips on integrating devices from different brands or maintaining privacy while using cloud services, I’d love to hear about your experiences! Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other create smarter, more secure homes.
