Exploring Wyze Cam V2 and V3: RTSP Compatibility and Beyond

Hey everyone! I’ve been using Wyze Cam V2 for quite some time now, and I must say, it’s been a fantastic experience. The 1080p resolution and RTSP support have been crucial for my setup, especially when integrating with my Synology NAS. The ability to stream live feeds and record events seamlessly has made monitoring my home a breeze. I’ve had zero issues with the V2 cams, which is why I was a bit surprised when Wyze introduced the V3 without RTSP support.

I’ve been wondering if the V2 models still available on Amazon, like the Wyze Cam Pan v2 360-degree, still retain the RTSP functionality. It would be a shame if that feature was phased out entirely. For those who rely on RTSP for custom setups or integration with other systems, this change might be a dealbreaker.

On a positive note, the V2 cams have proven to be reliable workhorses. Their motion detection is spot on, and the night vision is impressive. I’ve also appreciated the ease of use when setting them up through the Wyze app. The firmware updates have been consistent, and I haven’t encountered any major bugs or performance issues.

Now, with the V3 on the horizon, I’m curious to see how it stacks up. While the lack of RTSP might be a setback for some, the improved features like better battery life and enhanced video quality could make it worth considering for others. I’d love to hear from anyone who has had hands-on experience with the V3 and how they’ve adapted to the changes.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to enjoy my V2 cams and keep an eye on any updates or workarounds that might bring RTSP functionality back to the newer models. If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing RTSP with Wyze cams, I’d be happy to share them here! Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your thoughts!
