Exploring Wyze Camera Integration and Smart Locks

Hi everyone, I’m diving into the world of Wyze cameras and smart locks, and I have a few questions and experiences to share. First, I recently purchased a Wyze Cam V2 and set it up as a backup camera for my trailer hitch. It took some trial and error, but I managed to get it working by turning off my phone’s Wi-Fi, enabling mobile hotspot, and connecting through the Wyze app. The setup was surprisingly smooth once I figured out the right steps, and the camera provides a clear view of the hitch, which is essential for safe connections. I’m really impressed with how well it works without any additional hassle.

Now, moving on to smart locks. I’m considering upgrading my current locks to third-party options like the Aqara U100 for better functionality. My main concern is whether Wyze Home Monitoring can seamlessly integrate with these locks. I’d love to set up automations where certain locks engage or disengage based on the security system’s arming status. For example, I’d like the front door lock to automatically engage when the system is armed, and perhaps trigger an alert if it’s opened while disarmed.

I also wonder if these automations can be managed through services like Google Home or IFTTT, given that my ecosystem is heavily integrated with Google Nest devices. I’d hate to switch ecosystems just for this integration. If anyone has experience with similar setups or can provide insights, I’d greatly appreciate it.

On another note, I’ve heard some mixed reviews about Wyze’s customer service and firmware updates. I’m hoping to avoid any major hiccups, but it’s something I’m keeping in mind as I explore these options. Overall, I’m excited to enhance my home security with these devices and would love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
