Hi everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home devices lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and thoughts with you all.
First off, I’ve been using Wyze cameras for a while now, and I must say, they’ve been a fantastic addition to my home security setup. The video quality is impressive, and the motion detection feature is pretty reliable. However, I’ve noticed that sometimes the time in the live feed is off by about 30 minutes. I’ve tried syncing it using different devices, but the issue persists. If anyone has encountered this and found a solution, I’d love to hear about it!
On the other hand, I’ve recently come across Govee products, and I’m thoroughly impressed. Their RGBIC LED strip lights are absolutely stunning, and the fact that they come with covers makes them perfect for my home decor. I’ve installed them in my living room, and they’ve completely transformed the ambiance. The app integration is smooth, and I can control them effortlessly from my phone.
Another thing I’ve been exploring is setting up a virtual thermostat using OpenHAB. I’ve created a script that switches on an IR heater when the room temperature drops below a certain threshold and turns it off when it rises above another. It’s been working like a charm, and I’ve even added some logging to keep track of the heater’s activity. If anyone is interested in similar automation, I’d be happy to share the script or discuss how to tweak it further.
Lastly, I’ve been thinking about expanding my Z-Wave network. I have a few repeaters already, but I’m considering adding more to ensure better coverage, especially in areas where signals tend to weaken. I’m curious about the best practices for adding Z-Wave Plus repeaters and how they interact with existing devices.
Overall, it’s been an exciting journey exploring these devices and automations. I’d love to hear about your experiences and any tips you might have! Happy smart home tinkering! ![]()
