Exploring Wyze Cameras for Animal Behavior Research

I’m currently working on a research project using Wyze cameras to study animal behavior in both lab and rainforest settings. So far, the cameras have been incredibly useful for capturing events triggered by motion. However, I’m running into some challenges with the duration of recordings and storage solutions.

In the lab, we’ve noticed that the longest motion event recorded lasts about 3 minutes. Ideally, we’d like to extend this to at least 30 minutes, or even longer if possible. I’m curious if upgrading to Wyze Cam Plus would help achieve this, and whether the cameras need to be restarted after the upgrade.

In the rainforest, where internet access is limited or nonexistent, we’re exploring the possibility of using an external hub to remotely record footage. Additionally, we’re considering using an SD card for longer-term storage. Does anyone have experience with plugging in an SD card while the camera is powered on, and accessing the recordings offline?

Our main goal is to accurately capture the timing of these behaviors so we can coordinate fieldwork and acoustic equipment setup. Any advice on optimizing these settings or workarounds for offline recording would be greatly appreciated! :lion::herb:
