Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to share my experience with the Xiaomi Smart Ceiling LED Lights and how I’ve integrated them into my smart home setup using OpenHAB. As a newcomer to the smart home ecosystem, I’ve been on a journey of discovery and learning, and I’m eager to connect with others who share this passion.
I recently installed three Xiaomi LED Ceiling Lights and connected them using the Mi IO Binding. While the integration has been smooth in many ways, I’ve encountered some challenges, particularly with inconsistent control. Sometimes, one of the lights experiences a significant delay or doesn’t respond at all when trying to switch all lights on or off. This issue persists whether I use the MiHome app, the Yeelight app, or OpenHAB directly. I suspect this might be related to server latency, as I’m currently using the China mainland server. I plan to switch to the Europe server to see if this improves the situation.
One of my main questions is whether OpenHAB handles commands locally or if it routes them through the Xiaomi servers. If it’s the latter, this could explain the delays I’m experiencing. I’m hopeful that switching to a local setup might resolve this issue. If not, I’m open to exploring alternative bindings or products that support LAN-only operation.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully integrated Xiaomi lights into their OpenHAB setup, especially if they’ve encountered and overcome similar challenges. Your insights and recommendations would be invaluable as I continue to refine my smart home experience. Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions! ![]()
