I recently set up a whole-home energy monitor and several smart plugs, and I’ve been tweaking their settings to optimize performance. For instance, I adjusted the reporting interval on my whole-home monitor to only trigger when there’s a significant power change—like when the solar panels kick in and produce around 8kW. It’s been a game-changer for reducing unnecessary network traffic!
I’d love to apply the same logic to my smart plugs. The idea is to have them report only when there’s a meaningful change in power usage, rather than every few seconds. However, I’m curious if anyone has automated this process. I’m thinking of creating a script to set these thresholds across all plugs uniformly, especially after a factory reset. It would save time and ensure consistency across my setup.
