Exploring Z-Wave Compatibility and Automation Possibilities

I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave devices lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with the community. For those of you who aren’t familiar, I’ve recently come across the Z-Wave Telldus Tellstick ZNet Lite Gateway V2 Gen5, which seems like a game-changer for standalone Z-Wave setups. It supports both Z-Wave (Gen 5 and above) and the 433MHz band, which is fantastic for expanding home automation without relying on USB devices. I’m really excited about this and would love to hear if anyone has experience with it!

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with creating automations using my Sengled Element Classic bulbs. While they’re rock solid in terms of performance, I’ve noticed they don’t remember their last state during power outages. This has led me to explore ways to automate their behavior post-power restoration. I’ve considered creating a group of these bulbs and setting up a rule to turn them off automatically when power is restored. However, I’m curious if grouping multiple bulbs could cause any issues or delays in response time. Any insights from the community would be invaluable!

Lastly, I stumbled upon the Zooz Zen51 and Zen52 relays, which seem to offer versatile switching options. I’m particularly interested in understanding how their switch inputs work—does a change in state always toggle the output, or is there more nuance to it? If anyone has hands-on experience with these devices, I’d love to hear about your setup and any tips you might have.

This journey into smart home automation is both exciting and a bit overwhelming, but I’m grateful for communities like this that help navigate the possibilities. Let’s keep the discussions flowing and continue to explore the endless potential of these devices!
