Exploring Z-Wave Device Configuration and Troubleshooting

I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave devices lately, and it’s been quite an adventure! I recently added a Zooz ZSE40 motion sensor and a Neo NAS-DS01Z door sensor to my setup. While the installation process went smoothly, I’ve encountered a few interesting challenges that I thought I’d share with the community.

First off, I’ve been trying to reconfigure the motion sensor’s re-trigger time. The default is set to 15 minutes, but I’d like to change it to 3 minutes for better responsiveness. I’ve followed the standard procedures—changing the setting, sending the configuration, and waiting for the device to wake up. However, it’s been a few days now, and the sensor still hasn’t saved the new setting. It’s a bit puzzling, but I’m determined to figure this out!

Moving on to the door sensor, I’ve noticed an unusual behavior with the battery level reporting. After replacing the battery, it consistently shows 18%, which is the same as the old battery’s level. I’ve manually woken up the device several times, but the reading hasn’t changed. It’s functional, but it’s definitely something I’d like to resolve to ensure accurate monitoring.

I also added a Zooz ZSE41 door sensor, and it’s been a bit of a mystery. The device details like manufacturer and model are showing up as “unknown,” which is a bit concerning. Plus, after updating zwavejs2mqtt from version 9.6.2 to 10.0.4, it started displaying some unexpected sensors like “fluid is low.” It’s a door sensor, so I’m not sure where that’s coming from! Despite these quirks, it’s still working well, so I’m cautiously optimistic.

This journey has taught me a lot about Z-Wave device configuration and the importance of patience when troubleshooting. I’m excited to continue exploring and learning more about these devices. If anyone has insights or solutions to these issues, I’d love to hear them! Thanks for being part of this community—it’s amazing to have such a supportive network to lean on.
