Exploring Z-Wave Integration with Homey Pro

Hey everyone, I’m diving into the world of Z-Wave integration with my new Homey Pro, and I wanted to share my experiences and some questions I have along the way. I’ve been using Home Assistant alongside SmartThings and Hubitat, and while the transition from SmartThings has been smooth, Hubitat is still hanging around due to some Z-Wave quirks with Homey Pro.

I recently added a few GE Embrighten Z-Wave light switches and a Schlage Z-Wave lock, but I’ve hit a snag with the original Z-Wave devices. The Homey Pro app doesn’t seem to handle them as smoothly as I hoped. For instance, my dimmers no longer dim, and the lock isn’t responding at all. It’s a bit frustrating, but I’m determined to figure this out!

I have a couple of questions:

  • Is there a guide or method to manually configure Homey Pro to recognize these devices correctly? I’d love to tell Homey that a device is a dimmer or a lock.
  • Will Homey expand its Z-Wave support to include more accurate control of original Z-Wave devices? It would be great to see better integration without relying on workarounds.
  • If not, can we expect clearer distinctions between generic Z-Wave and Z-Wave Plus support? Maybe even better integration with other hubs like Hubitat?

I’ve seen mentions of these issues in other threads, but my tests suggest it’s more about the original Z-Wave vs. Z-Wave Plus than specific devices. I’m curious if others have found solutions or workarounds. Any insights or experiences would be invaluable!

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
