Exploring Z-Wave Lock Integration and Mesh Networking

I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave devices lately, and I’m curious about integrating Z-Wave locks into my smart home setup. I’ve heard great things about Schlage locks, but I’m running into some reliability issues with my current setup. The locks occasionally fail to report unlock or lock events, which is a bit frustrating, especially when trying to use them to arm/disarm my security system.

I’ve read that some users have better luck with Hubitat for Z-Wave devices, so I’m considering setting up a dual hub system—using a SmartThings hub for outlets and plugs, and Hubitat for the locks. But I’m not entirely sure how this would work in terms of mesh networking. Would having two hubs create two separate meshes, or is there a way to combine them for a more reliable setup?

Another thing I’m exploring is how to troubleshoot and remove Z-Wave devices that seem to linger even after a reset. I’ve reflashed my controller multiple times, but the devices still show up. Any tips or tricks for completely removing these devices from the network would be greatly appreciated!

I’d also love to hear from anyone who has successfully integrated Tuya Zigbee devices without a bridge. I’ve got some radiator valves that I’d like to connect directly, but I’m not sure if SmartThings can handle them as TRVs or if I need to wait for the bridge. Any insights or workarounds would be super helpful.

Lastly, I’m curious about others’ experiences with mesh reliability and device integration across multiple hubs. Have you found any best practices or tools that make managing a mixed Z-Wave ecosystem easier? I’d love to hear your tips and tricks!

Thanks for your help, and happy tinkering! :rocket:
