Exploring Z-Wave Multicast Workarounds and Smart Lighting Solutions

Hey everyone, I’m diving into the world of Z-Wave multicast functionality and smart lighting solutions, and I wanted to share my experiences and thoughts with the community. :rocket:

First, let me talk about my recent project with Z-Wave multicast. I’ve been trying to replicate multicast behavior on my Homey setup since it doesn’t natively support true Z-Wave multicast. My goal is to control multiple Z-Wave devices, like lights, simultaneously without the slight delays that come with unicast commands. I experimented with using a Fibaro Double Smart Module to act as an intermediary, simulating an S1 input trigger to activate Association Group 2. Unfortunately, this approach hasn’t worked as expected—the associated nodes don’t respond when I simulate the S1 action via Homey. I’m curious if anyone has tried something similar or knows why this might not be working. Any insights or alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

On another note, I’ve been exploring smart lighting solutions and stumbled upon Govee’s offerings. Their lights are incredibly bright and well-built, which makes me excited about their potential for outdoor use. However, I’ve noticed that some color options, like purple and blue, aren’t as vibrant as I’d hoped. It makes me wonder if a four-pack setup might enhance the effect. If anyone has experience with Govee spotlights, especially in creative lighting setups, I’d love to hear your thoughts! :star2:

Lastly, I’ve been thinking about integrating more smart devices into my home, particularly automated curtains. I’m torn between buying new Somfy curtains with built-in power outlets or investing in curtain robots for a wireless solution. The curtain robots seem appealing for their flexibility, but I have questions about battery life, community support, and overall reliability. Has anyone had success with curtain robots, or do you recommend sticking with a wired solution? Your experiences would be invaluable! :jigsaw:

Thanks in advance for your insights and suggestions. Let’s keep the conversation flowing and explore these smart home possibilities together! :handshake:
