I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave devices lately, and I must say, it’s been quite an adventure!
I recently upgraded my IQ Panel 2 to take advantage of Z-Wave PLUS, hoping it would solve some of the connectivity issues I’ve been experiencing with my Schlage Z-Wave door locks. These devices have always been a bit finicky, often resulting in those pesky “unable to connect” messages on my Alarm.com app. While the upgrade has definitely reduced these errors, it hasn’t completely eliminated them, which is a bit frustrating. ![]()
I decided to take things a step further by purchasing some of the new Schlage Connects that use Z-Wave PLUS. The idea is to replace the failed nodes without having to reconfigure all my rules and schedules from scratch. I’ve heard about the IQ Panel 2’s “Replace Failed Node” function, and I’m really curious if it will work seamlessly with the new Z-Wave PLUS devices. The thought of maintaining all my existing automation without starting over is incredibly appealing! ![]()
However, I’m a bit nervous about the process. Will the replacement nodes retain all the functionality of the old ones? Is there any downside to this approach? I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully gone through this process or has any tips to share. ![]()
On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with automating my vacuum cleaner to take care of itself. It’s supposed to head to the bin every other weekday at 13:30h, but I keep running into configuration issues. The error messages are a bit cryptic, and I’m not entirely sure where I’m going wrong. If anyone has experience with setting up such automations, especially with Xiaomi vacuum cleaners, I’d be grateful for any guidance! ![]()
Overall, it’s been a mix of triumphs and trials, but I’m determined to get everything up and running smoothly. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other navigate these smart home waters! ![]()
