Exploring Z-Wave Range and Extenders in Hubitat

I recently purchased the Zooz Z-Wave Multi-Relay Zen16 and it’s been a fantastic addition to my Hubitat ecosystem. Most of my devices are Zigbee and Lutron, so this was my first foray into Z-Wave. Initially, the device was placed about 30-40 feet away from the hub, with one wall in between, and it worked flawlessly. However, after moving my tech setup into a central closet, the distance increased to around 80-100 feet through 2-3 walls, and the relay stopped working.

I’m curious if this distance is too far for a single Z-Wave device or if I need additional extenders. Should I try disconnecting and reconnecting it to the hub, or is there a better approach? I’d love to hear from others who’ve dealt with similar range issues in their setups.

On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with integrating some older devices into my smart home. It’s amazing how much you can do with a bit of creativity and some DIY solutions. If anyone has tips on extending Z-Wave range without adding too many extenders, I’d be thrilled to hear them!
