Exploring Z-Wave Smart Plug Integration with GE 45600 Remote Controller

Hey everyone, I’m diving into the world of smart home automation and have come across an interesting challenge that I wanted to share with the community. I recently acquired a 2-channel Z-Wave smart plug (Inovelli NZW37) which allows individual outlet controls via the SmartThings app. However, I’m trying to integrate it with my GE 45600 remote controller, and there’s a catch: the plug only has a single physical switch that controls both outlets simultaneously. The GE 45600 instructions require manually pressing the physical button to ‘learn’ the device, but since the individual outlets don’t have their own physical buttons, I’m wondering if there’s a workaround.

I’ve heard about virtual or simulated button presses through SmartApps, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement this. Does anyone have experience with creating a virtual button or using a SmartApp to trick the remote into recognizing the individual outlets? I’m also curious if there’s a way to send a signal that mimics the physical button press without actually having a button to press.

This project is part of a larger smart home setup I’m working on, and solving this puzzle would be a significant step forward. I’m open to any suggestions or tricks that the community might have. Let’s brainstorm together and see if we can find a creative solution! :rocket:
