Exploring ZHA's New Network Channel Feature

Hey everyone, I stumbled upon a new feature in ZHA recently and thought I’d share my experience with you all. It’s been a fun little experiment!

So, I came across this option to change the Zigbee network channel directly through the ZHA interface. At first, I was a bit hesitant—changing network channels isn’t something I do every day. But curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to give it a try.

I switched the channel from 25 to 20 with just a few clicks. To my relief, everything worked out smoothly! All my devices reconnected without any issues, and after about half an hour, they were all back online. It’s amazing how seamless the process was. I couldn’t help but wonder if this feature has been around for a while or if it’s something new that I just discovered.

I did a quick search online but couldn’t find much information about this feature. That’s why I wanted to share my experience here—maybe it can help someone else who’s looking to optimize their Zigbee network.

However, there’s a catch. After switching to channel 20, I noticed occasional warnings about the network being over 70% utilized. This has me thinking that I might need to switch back to channel 25 in the near future to avoid any potential performance issues. Still, I’m impressed with how easy it was to test this out and glad that ZHA provides such a handy tool for network management.

If anyone else has tried this feature or has tips on managing Zigbee channels, I’d love to hear about your experiences! Let’s keep the conversation going.

Cheers,
