Key Benefits I’ve Experienced:- Easier Re-Pairing: Unlike Z-Wave, where re-pairing meant resetting all rules, Zigbee devices reconnect seamlessly with their existing settings intact.- Faster Responses: My Zigbee motion sensors trigger lights almost instantly, whereas Z-Wave had a noticeable delay.- Network Visibility: The ability to monitor signal strength and identify potential issues is a huge plus. With Z-Wave, troubleshooting was a guessing game.- Simplified Disaster Recovery: As my system grows, the ease of backing up Zigbee data gives me peace of mind. Z-Wave relied heavily on a physical stick, making recovery more daunting.
**Current Setup and Future Plans:**I’ve transitioned to a mix of Zigbee devices, including IKEA Tradfri outlets, Hue motion sensors, and Aqara temperature sensors. The Aqara devices, despite initial reservations, have been rock solid thanks to community drivers. My next step is to replace my Hue bulbs with Zigbee-compatible Sengled Elements, aiming for a fully integrated Zigbee ecosystem.
