Exploring Zigbee Automation and Device Compatibility

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of Zigbee automation and wanted to share some of my experiences and questions. First off, I recently purchased a few TRÅDFRI bulbs for my kitchen, and while they’re working perfectly with SmartThings and Alexa, I’m looking to add a physical wall switch for convenience. I’ve heard great things about the Philips Hue remotes and their switch covers, but I’m not sure if they’ll work seamlessly with my setup. Has anyone successfully paired a TRÅDFRI remote or a Philips Hue remote with their system? Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

On another note, I’ve been exploring the use of automation with my Zigbee devices. I noticed that when I press the button on my Aqara Zigbee temperature sensor, it triggers an event in the logbook, but I’m struggling to find the right event type to use in my automations. The logbook shows an ‘Attribute Updated’ event, but this option doesn’t appear in the automation configuration. I tried using the development tools to figure this out, but I’m not quite sure how they work. If anyone has experience with this, I’d love to hear how you identified the correct event type for your automations.

Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with asynchronous automation steps. I have an automation that triggers when someone rings my doorbell, and I’d like it to send a notification and play a doorbell sound simultaneously. Currently, the automation runs sequentially, which adds unnecessary delays. I read that creating separate scripts for each task might help, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement this. Would it be better to split this into two separate automations instead of one? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the best approach to achieve this.

Overall, I’m really enjoying the flexibility and customization that Zigbee devices offer, but there’s definitely a learning curve. I’m excited to continue exploring and improving my setup, and I’d love to hear any tips or experiences you’ve had with similar projects! Happy tinkering everyone! :rocket:
