I’ve been diving into the world of Zigbee devices lately, and it’s been quite an adventure!
I recently purchased a few new sensors and bulbs, and I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to integrate them into my existing setup. One thing that’s been on my mind is the choice of Zigbee channels. I’ve heard that different devices operate on specific channels, and I want to make sure I pick one that works well with everything I have.
Currently, I have some Konke temperature and humidity sensors that only work on channels 15, 20, and 25. I also have Philips Hue devices that support channels 11, 15, 20, and 25. After doing some research, I think channel 15 might be the best bet for me since it’s compatible with both types of devices. But I’m still curious if there’s a more comprehensive list of devices and their channel preferences out there. It would be amazing to have a go-to resource for this kind of information!
Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is setting up routines using IFTTT and Alexa. I’d love to create a nighttime routine that turns on some white noise and dims the lights without having to use voice commands. I came across the Flic button in a LifeHacker article, and it seems like a great solution, but I’m also curious if there’s a cheaper alternative, like using an NFC tag. I’m not sure how feasible that is, but it would be cool to figure it out!
On the automation front, I’ve been trying to get my motion sensors to work seamlessly with my lights. It’s frustrating when the lights don’t turn on as expected, especially after everything was working fine initially. I’ve heard that sometimes a network repair can help speed things up, but I’m still not entirely sure how to troubleshoot deeper issues. If anyone has tips or tricks for ensuring smooth operation, I’d love to hear them!
Overall, it’s been a learning experience, but I’m really enjoying the process of creating a more connected and automated home. I can’t wait to see what other cool gadgets and features I can add in the future! ![]()
