Hi everyone! I’m reaching out to share my recent journey with Zigbee devices and automation in Home Assistant. I’ve been using a lot of Xiaomi Zigbee components, but unfortunately, my Xiaomi ME base station isn’t compatible with Home Assistant. This has led me to explore other Zigbee devices, particularly a door chime that can trigger when the door opens. While I’ve found some alarm solutions, they seem a bit overkill for my needs. I’m sticking with Zigbee for now, especially since I’ve just set up a Conbee 2 gateway.
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with automation modes in Home Assistant. I have an automation that triggers based on humidity levels, turning on an extractor fan when humidity is high and turning it off after five minutes. The automation is set to restart, which means it should stop any previous runs if the condition is met again within five minutes. However, I’m a bit unclear about how this works if the condition isn’t met. Does the previous automation always stop, or only if the next run actually does something? The official documentation mentions how actions are affected, but I’m still not entirely sure about the specifics.
I’d love to hear from others who have experience with automation modes and how they handle similar scenarios. Have you encountered situations where the automation behaves unexpectedly, and how did you resolve them? Also, if anyone has advice on finding a suitable Zigbee door chime or integrating it into Home Assistant, I’d be grateful for any tips!
Looking forward to your insights and experiences!
