Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent journey into enhancing my Zigbee setup and explore some automation ideas that might interest others! ![]()
I’ve been using HomeAssistant with Zigbee devices for a while now, and while everything runs smoothly, I’m looking to streamline my setup. Currently, I have two bridges: a Hue Bridge and a Sonoff Zigbee Dongle. The Hue Bridge handles my Philips Hue Motion sensors and Tradfri lights, while the Sonoff manages my Aquara sensors and Opple switches. However, I’ve noticed that the Hue Bridge is taking up a valuable outlet, and since it’s only tunneling Zigbee devices, I’m considering removing it to consolidate everything under the Sonoff.
But here’s the catch: the Sonoff is limited to 32 devices, and I’m already pushing that limit! I’ve heard great things about Zigbee2MQTT, especially from @simon42’s video, and I’m eager to switch over. However, I’m curious about alternatives like the SkyConnect Stick, which supposedly offers Matter integration. Does anyone have experience with SkyConnect or other multi-device setups? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
On another note, I’ve been exploring some cool automation ideas, like using Govee strip lights with the Skyline kit to create dynamic lighting scenes. It’s been a fun project, and I’d love to see what others are doing with their setups. Whether it’s automating lights based on motion or creating ambiance with color-changing strips, there’s so much potential!
If you’ve got any tips, tricks, or experiences to share about consolidating Zigbee devices, switching to Zigbee2MQTT, or creative automation ideas, I’d be thrilled to hear from you! Let’s brainstorm together! ![]()
