After spending countless hours researching and experimenting with various smart home devices, I’ve decided to dive into the world of Zigbee automation. My goal is to create a seamless system that integrates smart blinds, temperature control, and presence detection. This journey has been both exciting and a bit overwhelming, but I’m determined to make it work!
One of the challenges I’ve encountered is finding the right Zigbee wall control module for roller shutters that also supports tilt adjustments. I came across a few options, like the Fibaro Roller Shutter and Ubisys J1, but they are quite expensive. I’m curious if there are more affordable alternatives that still meet my requirements. If anyone has recommendations or experiences to share, I’d love to hear them!
Another aspect I’m exploring is using the Unifi device_tracker to control a TRV (thermostatic radiator valve) in my son’s room. The idea is to heat the room only when he’s present. While I’ve managed to track his devices, integrating this data into the TRV’s presence detector has been tricky. I’ve tried using helpers, but I’m not quite there yet. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!
I’ve also been experimenting with local storage solutions for my security cameras. After canceling my subscription, I switched to a USB drive connected to the base station. However, when I tried reviewing the footage on my Mac, only the doorbell captures showed up. This inconsistency is puzzling, especially since all my cameras are connected to the base station. I’m hoping someone in the community might have encountered a similar issue and found a workaround.
As I continue to piece together this smart home puzzle, I’m reminded of how much there is to learn. Each challenge brings new insights and opportunities for growth. I’m excited to see how these integrations will enhance my daily life and create a more comfortable and efficient home environment. Let’s keep the discussions flowing and keep sharing our experiences and solutions!
