Exploring Zigbee Integration in OpenHAB 2.1

Hi everyone, I’m diving into the world of Zigbee integration with OpenHAB 2.1 and wanted to share my experiences and questions with the community. I recently upgraded my Raspberry Pi setup to OpenHAB 2.1 and decided to expand my smart home ecosystem by adding Zigbee functionality.

I came across a few options for Zigbee adapters, including the cheap Chinese CC2531 sticks and the Raspbee. I’m curious to hear which one others recommend for reliability and ease of use. I’ve heard that the Raspbee is more plug-and-play, but I’m also tempted by the affordability of the Chinese options.

After setting up my Zigbee adapter, I noticed that some devices aren’t pairing as smoothly as I hoped. I’m wondering if there are specific configurations or settings within OpenHAB that can optimize the pairing process. Additionally, I’m exploring how to integrate these Zigbee devices with my existing setup, especially with the Basic UI and Paper UI.

One challenge I encountered was manually starting several bindings after the upgrade to 2.1. I’m curious if others have faced similar issues and if there are best practices for ensuring all bindings start automatically upon boot.

I’m also interested in hearing about others’ experiences with Zigbee devices and how they’ve managed to create seamless automations. Any tips or resources would be greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to your insights and advice. Happy automating! :rocket:
