I’ve been diving into the world of Zigbee devices lately, and it’s been quite an adventure! 
I recently expanded my setup with a mix of brands— Ikea, Innr, and Xiaomi— all connected to my Homey hub. The goal was to leverage the mesh functionality for better coverage and reliability, but I hit a snag. Most devices registered as ‘Router,’ except for my Xiaomi door sensor, which remained a ‘Coordinator.’ After some research and waiting, I still couldn’t get the mesh to kick in properly. Some devices near the hub worked perfectly, but those further away were hit or miss. Frustrating, to say the least! 
After reaching out to the community, I discovered that mesh functionality can sometimes be tricky, especially with different brands. Some users suggested ensuring all devices are updated to the latest firmware, while others recommended physically moving devices closer to the hub temporarily to establish a stronger mesh. I tried the latter, and it made a noticeable difference! 
This experience taught me the importance of patience and thorough research when integrating multiple brands. It also highlighted the value of community support— without the tips from fellow users, I might still be scratching my head.

- Placement Matters: Position devices strategically to maximize mesh coverage.
- Community Support: Don’t hesitate to ask for help— the smart home community is incredibly supportive!
