I’ve been diving into the world of Zigbee devices lately, and I must say, it’s been quite an adventure! Currently, I’m using the Skyconnect Stick, but let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. Some of my lamps lose their connection or binding whenever they’re turned off for a while, which is pretty frustrating. I decided it was time to explore other options and came across two promising candidates: the SONOFF ZigBee Bridge Pro and the SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus.
I’m currently managing a setup with 18 LED spotlights, 8 smart plugs, 4 switches for my light sockets, and a variety of sensors for my heating system. Plus, I have some Ring devices and iHaus smoke detectors that use Z-Wave. It’s a bit of a mix, and I’m trying to see how these new Zigbee options could integrate seamlessly into my ecosystem.
The SONOFF ZigBee Bridge Pro seems like a solid choice with its built-in gateway functionality, which could simplify my setup. On the other hand, the USB Dongle Plus offers flexibility, especially since I can plug it directly into my Raspberry Pi. I’m curious about the firmware support and how each device handles device pairing, especially with the repeaters I have in place.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with these devices. What have been your experiences with their range, reliability, and ease of integration? Any tips on ensuring a smooth transition would be invaluable. I’m also wondering about the long-term support and updates these devices receive—stability is key for me.
If anyone has tips on optimizing Zigbee performance, especially with a mixed setup like mine, I’m all ears! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other navigate this exciting but sometimes tricky world of smart home tech. Happy tinkering everyone! ![]()
