Exploring Zigbee Range Extenders: A Beginner's Journey

As a newcomer to the world of home automation, I’ve been diving into setting up my smart home using Zigbee devices. I recently installed Zigbee2MQTT and connected it with a few sensors, but I quickly ran into a challenge: my Zigbee Dongle is located in the basement, while my sensors are upstairs. To bridge this gap, I decided to add an Aotec Range Extender to my setup.

Initially, I thought the Range Extender would automatically strengthen the signal from my Sonoff Dongle and connect the sensors to it. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. However, I didn’t lose hope! I tested by directly learning an Aquara Vibration Sensor to the Repeater, and that worked perfectly.

Now, when I check the Zigbee2MQTT network map, I notice that the Vibration Sensor is outside the network—it’s neither connected to the Repeater nor the Coordinator. This has left me a bit puzzled. Does anyone have a solution for this? I’m curious to know if there’s a way to ensure the Repeater properly integrates the sensors into the main network.

If you’ve encountered a similar issue or have any tips, I’d greatly appreciate your insights! Let’s explore this together and make my smart home setup a reality. :rocket:
