Hi everyone!
I’m thrilled to share my recent experiences with integrating Zigbee sensors and exploring MQTT battery life in my smart home setup. As someone who’s been diving into the world of smart home automation, I’ve encountered a few interesting challenges and successes that I’d love to discuss with the community.
First, I wanted to talk about my experience with the Generic Zigbee Motion Sensor. I’ve been using this sensor for a while now, and I noticed that the temperature readings were displaying too many decimal places on my dashboard. After some research and reaching out to the community, I found a solution to round the temperature to one decimal place. It was a bit tricky, but the support I received from the forum was invaluable! ![]()
Another topic I’m passionate about is MQTT and its impact on battery life. I recently switched from using URL-based actions to MQTT for my Shelly devices, and I’m curious to hear others’ experiences. Theoretically, MQTT’s constant connection could drain the battery faster, but I’m not entirely sure how significant this effect is in real-world scenarios. Has anyone noticed a difference in battery life between MQTT and traditional URL-based actions? I’d love to learn more about best practices for optimizing battery performance with MQTT. ![]()
Lastly, I’m excited about the possibility of integrating live camera views via Alexa, similar to what I’ve seen with Wyze cameras. This feature would greatly enhance my home security setup, allowing me to monitor my property seamlessly through voice commands. If anyone has insights or tips on how to achieve this, I’d be grateful to hear them! ![]()
Thank you all for being such an incredible resource and community! Let’s continue to learn and grow together. If anyone has questions or experiences to share about these topics, I’d love to hear from you! ![]()
