Exploring Zigbee Smart Plugs and Energy Monitoring in the UK

I’ve been on a bit of a journey trying to find the perfect Zigbee smart plugs with energy monitoring here in the UK. Let me share my experiences and maybe we can all learn something together!

I’ve been using TP-Link Kasa KP115 plugs for a while now, and while they’re great, they have this annoying habit of dropping out at least once a month. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s definitely a pain point. I’ve been searching for alternatives that are more reliable and offer the energy monitoring features I need.

I came across the Wiser smart plugs, and they seem promising. They’re supposed to work well with the Drayton Wiser hub, which I’m already considering for my heating setup. However, I’m a bit concerned about their Zigbee routing capabilities. I’ve heard mixed things about whether they just act as extenders or if they fully integrate into the system. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s had success with them!

Another option I’m looking into is the SONOFF S26R2ZB. They don’t have energy monitoring, but they’re supposed to be good at routing. I’ve got two of them set up, and they’ve been working well so far. I’m curious if anyone has managed to add energy monitoring to these or if there’s a workaround.

I’ve also heard great things about Blitzwolf, but the issue is they’re only available on AliExpress, and shipping to the UK seems tricky. If anyone has managed to get them here, I’d love to know how!

For now, I’m sticking with my SONOFF plugs for routing, but I’m still on the hunt for that perfect combination of reliability, energy monitoring, and ease of use. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s found their ideal setup or has any tips for my search!

Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other out. Happy smart home exploring! :rocket:
