Exploring Zigbee Thermostats in HomeKit

As a newcomer to home automation, I’ve been exploring the world of smart thermostats and stumbled upon the Moes White Zigbee Smart Thermostat. At first glance, it seemed like a great option—affordable, energy-efficient, and compatible with Zigbee. However, I had one major concern: would it integrate seamlessly with Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem?

After some research, I discovered that while HomeKit-native thermostats are available, they often come with a higher price tag and unnecessary features. The Moes thermostat, on the other hand, offers a cost-effective solution without cluttering my network with unused devices. Plus, its compatibility with MQTT and Tuya app seemed like a bonus for those who enjoy tinkering with smart home setups.

I decided to take the plunge and set up the thermostat on my Raspberry Pi 3 with Home Assistant. Using the Sonoff dongle for Zigbee communication, I was able to get everything connected without too much hassle. The integration process was smooth, and the thermostat quickly became a seamless part of my smart home setup.

What’s been most impressive is how easy it is to control the thermostat using Siri. My family, who aren’t as tech-savvy, have been able to adjust temperatures and create automations with ease. This has been a great way to introduce them to the world of smart home technology without overwhelming them.

If you’re on the hunt for an affordable, reliable thermostat that works well with HomeKit, I’d highly recommend giving the Moes Zigbee thermostat a try. It’s been a fantastic addition to my smart home journey, and I’m excited to see how it continues to enhance my daily life.
