Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately and wanted to share my experiences and questions with you all. I’ve been using a mix of Zigbee and other protocols, but I’m really curious about making the switch to Zigbee2MQTT for better integration and flexibility.
Currently, I’m using a Raspberry Pi with a SkyConnect for ZHA, but I’ve heard great things about Zigbee2MQTT. The thing is, I’m not sure if I should stick with ZHA or make the switch. I’ve also heard that Matter might be on the horizon, and I’m wondering if I can repurpose my SkyConnect for that in the future. My Raspberry Pi only has two USB ports, so space is a bit of a constraint. I’ve also come across an Intel NUC 6i2SYH that someone mentioned works well with Home Assistant—would that be a better fit for my setup?
On another note, I’ve been looking into Shelly devices for my home. They’re affordable and seem pretty versatile, but I’m trying to figure out how to integrate them with my existing system. Specifically, I need a solution for controlling my roller shutters with an Akku-puffed system. I’ve heard that Shelly Plus 1 could work, but I’m not entirely sure how to set it up without removing the existing Akku system. If anyone has experience with this, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I’ve also been exploring MQTT and stumbled upon some issues with sensors not showing up correctly in my setup. It’s a bit frustrating, but I’m determined to figure it out. I’ve checked the logs, and everything seems to be working on the MQTT side, but the sensors aren’t appearing as expected. I’m wondering if there’s a configuration step I’m missing or if it’s a compatibility issue with my current setup.
Overall, I’m really excited about the possibilities with Zigbee2MQTT and Shelly devices, but I could use some guidance to make everything work seamlessly. If anyone has tips, tricks, or similar experiences, I’d be thrilled to hear from you! Let’s make my home smarter together! ![]()
