As a homeowner with a garage located 70 meters away from my house, I’ve been exploring ways to extend the reach of my Homey Pro system to cover this distant area. The challenge is to connect a switch in the garage to my home’s local network, enabling control over Z-Wave and ZigBee devices from my main Homey Pro unit.
I’ve read through various forum posts and attempted different solutions, but nothing seems to work seamlessly. One idea I’ve considered is adding a second Homey Pro unit in the garage, acting as a slave to the master unit in the house. However, I’ve read that this isn’t straightforward and might not be supported.
Another approach I’ve explored is using the Homey Bridge as an extension. From what I understand, this isn’t currently possible, but it would be incredibly convenient if it were. Imagine just plugging a Bridge into a LAN port in the garage switch and having full control over all devices!
I’d love to hear from others who’ve successfully extended their Homey Pro coverage over long distances. What solutions have worked for you? Have you tried using a secondary Homey Pro or other network extenders? Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated!
It’s a common use case, so I’m hopeful there’s a reliable solution out there. Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other find the best way to bridge this gap!
