Hey everyone, I’m really curious about how to extend the signal range of my CCU2 for my Homematic devices. I recently purchased two Homematic 130248 power switches with energy measurement for my washing machine and dryer in the basement. However, despite living on the ground floor, these devices couldn’t establish a connection with the CCU2. After moving the CCU2 to the farthest corner of the apartment, which is closest to the basement, the connection was established, but there were occasional dropouts. Ideally, I’d like to place the CCU2 back with my other network devices, but if the range doesn’t allow it, that’s not a huge issue.
I’ve been researching solutions and came across the Homematic IP Schalt-Mess-Steckdose, which supposedly has a longer range (up to 400m in open field) compared to the Homematic 130248 (300m). It’s also said to support range extension, which is exactly what I need. The CCU2 firmware V2.27.7 mentions dynamic routing functionality for HmIP-PS/PSM, but I haven’t found any confirmation if it works. I’m also considering a Raspberry Pi 3 with a radio module, though I’m not sure how its range would perform.
Would it be possible to use the range extension feature of the HmIP-PSM with the CCU2? From what I’ve seen, it can be activated in the current Homematic IP app for HmIP-PSM and PS. If that’s the case, I could try replacing one of the basement switches with an HmIP-PSM and keep the Homematic switch for use in the apartment. I’m really looking forward to your thoughts and experiences on this. Thanks in advance!
