Extending SmartThings Range for Shed Automation

Hey everyone, I’m diving into the world of smart home automation and I’m really excited about the possibilities. I’ve been using SmartThings for a while now, and it’s been a great experience so far. However, I’ve hit a bit of a snag that I’m hoping the community can help me with.

I’ve got this fantastic shed at the far end of my garden, and I’d love to integrate it into my smart home setup. The problem is, the shed is a bit too far from my main SmartThings hub. I’ve tried a few things, like placing the hub closer, but it just doesn’t seem to reach. I’ve seen some discussions about adding a second hub, which sounds promising, but I’m not entirely sure how to go about it. I’ve got a Cat5e connection running to the shed, so I guess that gives me some options, but I’m not quite sure what they are.

Would love to hear from anyone who’s successfully extended their SmartThings range, especially if they used a second hub. Any tips or advice would be amazing! I’m really looking forward to getting those switches and sensors up and running in the shed. It’d be awesome to control everything from my phone or even set up some routines.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Let’s make this shed the smartest one on the block!
