Extending WiFi Coverage for Outdoor Cameras

Hi everyone, I’m Rachael and I recently got the Wyze Smart Home Starter Pack along with two Wyze Cam Outdoor Starter Bundles. We’re really excited to expand our security setup, but we’re facing a challenge with our WiFi coverage. Our house is 865 sq ft with a detached 600 sq ft garage on a 7500 sq ft property. The issue is that we don’t get WiFi in the garage, especially in the back half of the property. We have metal siding on the house and a metal roof on the garage, which doesn’t help with signal penetration.

I work from home and rely on an ethernet connection, which is at the opposite end of the house from the garage. Everything else in the house uses WiFi, so we need a reliable way to extend the signal to the garage. We’re considering options like WiFi extenders, repeaters, boosters, or even routers, but I’m not entirely sure which would work best. The garage isn’t heated, so we’re worried about cold weather affecting any pod-based solutions.

I’ve heard that extenders, repeaters, and boosters all have their pros and cons, but I’m not clear on the differences between them. I’d prefer something simple that doesn’t require running new wires from the modem. If anyone has experience with this, especially with Wyze cameras, I’d love to hear your recommendations! We’re looking to get this sorted before the next round of outdoor cameras and the Wyze Doorbell arrive. Thanks in advance for your help!
