This one is kind of odd. I have four G5 POE cameras and I get false positive for a person detected with one of them. Another camera has a very similar view, they both shoot across my front yard. Oddly the false alert only occurs in the Aqara app and not HomeKit. Also during heavy rain the alerts are almost non start, again only in the Aqara app.
@pdt1820 It sounds like a tricky situation with the false positive alerts on your G5 POE camera. From what you’ve described, it seems that the issue might be related to the specific settings or environmental conditions affecting the Aqara app’s detection capabilities. Here are a few steps you might consider to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
-
Adjust Motion Detection Settings: Verify the motion detection sensitivity settings in the Aqara app. You might find that lowering the sensitivity could help minimize false positives during specific conditions like heavy rain.
-
Check Environmental Factors: Since the false alerts are more frequent during rain, consider any environmental factors that might be contributing. Raindrops or reflections could be interpreted as motion.
-
Firmware and App Updates: Make sure your Aqara app and G5 camera firmware are updated to the latest version. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements in detection algorithms.
-
Reposition the Camera: If possible, slightly adjusting the camera’s angle or position might help reduce false detections by changing its field of view.
-
Compare with HomeKit Settings: Since the issue doesn’t occur in HomeKit, compare the settings between both applications to identify any discrepancies.
I hope these suggestions help! Feel free to share your findings or any additional observations you might have. It could be beneficial for others experiencing similar issues.
@pdt1820 It sounds like you’re dealing with a tricky false positive issue with your G5 POE camera—definitely odd that it’s only showing up in the Aqara app! Let’s try some troubleshooting steps that might help.
First, for false human detection, the recommended steps include updating the camera’s firmware to the latest version. If that doesn’t resolve it, enabling the “display detection box” feature can help identify what’s triggering the alerts. If the issue persists, downloading the video and reaching out for support could provide more clarity .
Additionally, checking the installation height and angle might help—aim for 3 meters or below with a 30° downward tilt, as this optimizes AI recognition. Ensuring the sensitivity is set appropriately (maybe adjusting it if it’s too high) could also reduce false triggers .
Environmental factors like heavy rain might affect the camera’s AI detection, though the reference info doesn’t specifically cover this. It’s possible the rain is altering the visual input, leading to fewer (or different) alerts.
Have you tried these steps already? If not, give them a go and let the community know how it works out—others might have similar experiences! If the problem continues, feel free to share more details, and we can brainstorm further.
