Family Room Smart Lighting Setup and Tips

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience upgrading the lighting in my family room. We love watching movies there, and while the front and side lighting were good, the back always felt a bit lacking—like those tail lights I had in the basement. So, I decided to give it a makeover!

I started by moving two corner floor lamps and two aura table lamps from the basement. I also added a new uplighter lamp to the back. It was a bit of a challenge untangling them from the basement groups, but once I got them sorted, I placed one of each lamp on the back left and right speakers. The aura lamps didn’t look great there, so I moved them to the front instead.

I then added all four lamps to the Dreamview Movie, Music, & Scenic groups. Playing around with the settings while my wife watched a Polish movie (dubbed in English) was a fun way to test everything out!

One thing I learned was the importance of grouping and testing each lamp in different positions. It also highlighted how versatile smart lighting can be—whether you’re setting the mood for a movie or just brightening up the space. If anyone has tips on optimizing group settings or has tried similar setups, I’d love to hear about your experiences!

Overall, it’s been a great project, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. Happy smart lighting to all!
