I really appreciate the current features of the G5 Outdoor Camera — especially the ability to receive push notifications when a car arrives on the driveway and the option to recognise specific vehicles.
However, I would love to see a combination of these two features: a push notification only when a specific vehicle arrives (or leaves).
Right now, the camera sends me many notifications simply because my recognised vehicle is stationary or happens to be in view. This results in a lot of unnecessary alerts. Being able to trigger notifications only when that specific vehicle actually arrives or departs would be much more useful.
It’s also possible that this is already achievable and I’m simply missing a correct setting — so any tips or configuration advice are more than welcome!
This addition would make the smart detection truly smarter and help reduce false positives significantly.
I can’t test it myself right now, but the instructions suggest that, if set up correctly, the recognition should be able to distinguish between all of these.
With the help of the camera image, you must also draw or remove recognition zones (blue squares) so that it works correctly. And you can’t park in the red zone.
As you can see on my side, “Approaching vehicle detected” only works for any vehicle, and “Specified vehicle detected” just checks if that vehicle is visible. This means I still receive repeated notifications whenever the recognised car is simply parked in view.
What I’m trying to achieve is:
A notification only when a specific vehicle arrives (or leaves), not whenever it’s just detected in the frame.
Right now there’s no trigger that combines “specified vehicle” with “approaching”, which would solve the issue.
Would be great if this could be added in a future update!
I just can’t select a vehicle right now, so instead of “Unknown vehicle” you have to use “Specified vehicle”.
If multiple messages continue to be triggered, you can also deactivate the automation itself and reactivate it later. However, to do this, you must first save and then edit the automation.
